My week has been mediocre. Better than some weeks, but not as good as others. I had moments when I would eat good and moments when I didn’t.
On the upside, I stocked up on delicious fruits and veggies (celery, salad, carrots, mixed veggies, bananas, apples, clementines, & pineapple) at the store.
Though my eating was up and down, I can say that I did pretty good in the exercise department. It may not seem stellar to those of you who are regularly active; but considering I am starting at couch potato status, this was great.
Friday – 1.5 mile walk/run (see my last post)
Monday – 1.65 mile walk/run
Thursday – 1.2 mile walk
I actually intended to run some on Thursday, but my calves were so sore from Monday’s running that I couldn’t. Ok, I guess sore isn’t really the word I wanted….more like “painful”. I’m not sure if it was shin splints or what. I pretty much limped around from Tuesday to Thursday. I started to run on Thursday but quickly realized that my calves were not going to tolerate it. So, I ended up walking the entire time.
I also had the privilege of coaching my Girls on the Run team twice this week. Weather (rain, wind, and/or cold) kept us inside both days, but we tried to make the most of it by doing our moving activities in the school hallway. So I was able to get in a little more exercise on those days. Once we start doing our activities outside, I plan to get in even more exercise with the girls. Some of them are just starting to run like me so I think I can help to motivate them and encourage them when it gets hard. Let’s just hope my calves cooperate!
P.S. Good news on the treadmill front. My hubby walked on it earlier this week (not sure how he could ignore the loud, rubbing noise it was making) and I guess his activity caused the liner to move back into proper position. Yea! Now I won’t be able to make excuses on rainy days.
